Where Belonging Begins
Welcome to all of our new and returning Woodland Hills Private School families! Whether this is your child’s very first year of preschool or they’re happily returning to familiar teachers and friends, we’re so grateful you’ve chosen to share this year with us.
Every new school year is filled with possibilities. New friendships begin, confidence grows, curiosity blossoms, and children discover just how capable they are. We feel incredibly fortunate to witness those moments every day.
We actually ask our teachers to slow things down at the beginning. Before we dig deeply into the curriculum, we make time for children and teachers to play together, learn classroom routines, build relationships, and help every child feel comfortable, known, and secure.
We see these first weeks as an investment in the entire year ahead. When children feel that sense of belonging, they’re more ready to explore, ask questions, take healthy risks, work through frustration, and engage deeply in learning.
That investment pays off all year long.
And it connects directly to our larger goal of helping every child reach their fullest potential. In preschool, that begins with creating the security and trust children need to venture out, try something new, discover what interests them, and begin showing us more and more of who they are.
Preschool gives children a remarkable world to explore. As they play, investigate, create, and interact with others, they begin discovering what brings them joy, what challenges them, what captures their curiosity, and what they’re capable of doing.
Our role is to pay close attention to what begins to emerge and keep creating opportunities for each child to stretch, grow, and discover more about themselves and the world around them.
Already, we’ve watched children explore new classroom materials, begin friendships, investigate our outdoor environments, and proudly share their first creations. Over the coming weeks, that curiosity will continue through thoughtfully planned provocations, investigations, imaginative play, and meaningful hands-on experiences.
Most importantly, we’re taking the time to truly get to know every child and family. No two children are exactly alike, and one of the greatest joys of preschool is watching their unique personalities, interests, and strengths begin to shine.

We want you to know you’re never navigating it alone. Whether you have a quick question, a concern, or simply something you’d like us to know about your child, we’re always here to listen and support your family.
Robin and Ms. Ailin at our Collins Campus, along with Ms. Roxana and Ms. Christine at our Oxnard Campus, look forward to partnering with you throughout the year.
Back-to-School Night
We also hope you’ll join us for one of our favorite evenings of the year:
Oxnard Campus: Thursday, September 3
Back-to-School Night is an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, learn more about the classroom and curriculum, preview the year ahead, and connect with other WHPS families. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet representatives from our parent organizations, PAWS and PAG, and learn about ways to become involved in our community.
Please note that school will close promptly at 3:00 p.m. on Back-to-School Night so our teachers can prepare for the evening.
Thank you for trusting us to know your children, celebrate who they are, and help them discover more of what they can do and who they are becoming.
