Preschool to Camp Transition Guide
What You Need to Know Before June 8
Dear Preschool Families,
Weβre excited your child will be joining Camp Woodland Hills this summer. Beginning June 8, your child is no longer part of the WHPS Preschool program.
Even if your child is in a familiar classroom space, camp is different from preschool. The routines, expectations, staffing, communication, supervision, and level of independence can feel like a big shift if families are not prepared.
All families are encouraged to attend or listen in to the Zoom call to help avoid surprises this summer.

π Drop-Off
- Drop-off is 7:00β8:30 AM at the Basketball Court.
- Rolling drop-off is available until 8:30 AM sharp. Booster seats must be on the passenger side, and children must be able to unbuckle themselves independently.
- After 8:30 AM, campers must check in at the Camp Office and a director will escort them to class.
- Parents do not escort campers to classrooms.
π Camper Independence
- Change for swim/water play independently.
- Use the restroom independently, including bathrooms that may be outside the classroom and not directly staffed by an adult.
- Walk to class and activities independently.
- Move between rooms, the pool, Barnyard, and activity spaces.
- Work with a variety of different counselors as they rotate through changing funshops and activities each day.
- Manage personal belongings each day.
Label everything. If a water bottle is misplaced, weβll provide a cup and direct campers to the drinking fountains.
π Field Trips
- Campers travel on buses equipped with seat belts.
- All trips are supervised by camp staff, with a Camp Director present on every trip.
- Parents do not attend field trips.
