Stuart earned his BA in Theatre Arts from Brown University, his Teaching Credential from CU Denver, and his MFA in Creative Writing for the Stage & Screen from UC Riverside. He began his teaching career in Colorado in 2007, working in theatre and elementary education. In 2012, he was a founding faculty member of a creativity-based innovation school before moving to California to further his own education. Prior to joining WHPS, Stuart worked in administration at Viewpoint School and most recently created a drama program at CHIME Charter, where he worked with all elementary classes, taught middle school electives, and coached the girls’ soccer team. Stuart and his wife founded an inclusive art and drama summer camp in 2018, which they continue to run together. When he's not in the classroom, Stuart enjoys playing soccer and cheering on his daughter from the sidelines of the soccer field.

Mission Statement

My mission is to create a warm, inclusive classroom where all students know they are valued. I want to foster a positive environment where every student feels safe being who they are and feels challenged to grow into the best version of themselves. My classroom is a place where student voice and choice are integral and respected. My role as an educator is to develop kind, courageous thinkers who will be guided by their passions and their principles as they continue to find their places in the world.
