A Moment to Pause
Finding Strength in Shared Humanity
Dear WHPS and Camp Woodland Hills Families,
Many in our community have likely heard the heartbreaking news about a tragic accident in the parking lot of an L.A. school this week, where a teenage student was gravely injured. Our hearts are heavy, and we are holding everyone affected by this unimaginable event in our thoughts.
We are also in communication with our partners at the school and will determine how WHPS can offer support to those affected in the days ahead. We will share a donation link or any other ways to help their school community as we learn more.
This is a sobering reminder of how fragile life can be—and how quickly everything can change in a single moment.
At WHPS, our highest priority is the safety of your children. We know that when we send reminders about slowing down, hanging up phones, or staying alert during drop-off and pick-up, it can sometimes feel routine. But moments like this remind us why we must never lose sight of what’s at stake. These reminders are not just about rules—they are about protecting the lives of every child, every parent, and every staff member in our community.
As you approach school each day, please remember: our children are always watching. The way we arrive and depart sets the tone—not just for safety, but for the kind of calm, respectful behavior we expect from everyone in our community.
We need every driver to:
Put away your phone.
Slow down.
Avoid distractions.
Be fully present and alert.
If a staff member offers guidance in the lot—asking you to pull forward, pause, or park in a specific spot—we ask that you respond with care and cooperation. These directions are never arbitrary; they are part of our shared effort to keep everyone safe and supported.
The beginning and end of each day are some of the busiest times on any school campus. Please bring extra patience and grace during these peak times, and help us model the kind of presence we want our children to carry into the world.
We are holding in our hearts families who are grieving right now—and holding just as tightly to what matters most: showing up for one another with intention, compassion, and love.
With care and gratitude,
Seth Pozzi
