Giftedness 101 Parent Workshop

January 29, 2020

Bust the myths associated with giftedness! During this presentation, we will discuss giftedness through the lens of intensity and asynchrony. You will learn about Dabrowski’s Overexcitabilities and discover the true primary characteristics of giftedness. Find out how these characteristics impact behavior and create the potential for misdiagnoses. Learn strategies and gain resources to support and guide gifted children academically, socially and emotionally. After attending this presentation, you will better understand gifted children in their classroom, home, and community environments. Question and answer to follow.

  • Hear from WHPS alumni parents and students about their experience.
  • Learn the DOs and DON'Ts for visiting schools (etiquette tips to increase your chances of acceptance at your top choice schools).
  • Learn about preparing for the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) and get a jump start on the process.
  • Learn what 3rd and 4th grade families should be doing NOW.
  • Designed for families in 3rd grade and up, but open to ALL families.

Effective Home-School Partnerships

October 2-4, 2019

  • Effective Parent-School Partnerships is a critical workshop that discusses key methods on how to best ensure that your child is successful in school and how you can get the MOST out of your family's investment in a WHPS education. Strategies discussed are for both preschool or elementary families.
